La Roux Releases Bulletproof: The Gold EP + Announces US Tour Dates

Hitler Learns About U2 360 Tour Postponement + Gorillaz To Replace U2 At Glastonbury
As you have probably already found out by now, U2 have postponed their 2010 North American tour dates, as well as pulled out of Glastonbury‘s Friday night headlining slot due to Bono’s recent back injury. This comes as a great disappointment to fans (myself included) who were looking forward to seeing the band play this summer at Glastonbury and otherwise.
However, the good news in spite of all this, is that Gorillaz have agreed to play Friday night’s headlining slot instead–a cunning move by Damon Albarn if you ask me. Having seen their set at Coachella earlier this year, I think Gorillaz are one of the few bands out of the initial replacement suggestions worthy enough to live up to those expectations. (Of course, we’d still rather see Blur or U2 up there instead, but you know…)
All of that being said, I suppose Gorillaz headlining Glastonbury is good news in a rather dreadful week of somewhat depressing U2 tour-related developments.
Fyfe Dangerfield: ‘Fly Yellow Moon’

Who the hell is Fyfe Dangerfield? Apparently, no one in America knows. Which is why it’s no surprise that the Guillemots front-man’s actually-quite-brilliant solo release has, for the most part, gone largely unnoticed by American audiences. Tragic, really. Like most people in America, I’d never heard of the Guillemots when I came upon this record, let alone Fyfe Dangerfield. It wasn’t until some of my more privvy UK friends pointed me in the right direction that I was lucky enough to come across Fly Yellow Moon.
While both of the singles I’ve seen floating around on the blogosphere, the Bernard Butler (of Suede) produced ‘She Needs Me’ and the richly tailored ‘When You Walk In The Room’ do, at times, seem to teeter on the brink of being almost too enthusiastic, it’s the much more somber tracks on the album such as ‘Faster’ and ‘Firebird’ that really earn Fly Yellow Moon its saving grace.
I’m sure that a great number of people have, and will have great reservations about Fly Yellow Moon, particularly those who are fans of Dangerfield’s more quirky, experimental work with the Guillemots. In the meantime though, I think most can agree that this transition is not entirely a bad thing.

Gorillaz O2 Priority Advert + UK Tour Announcement
Looks like the Gorillaz promotional team is back on board with another advert for their upcoming UK (and soon to be announced US) tour, but this time they’ve apparently decided to kick it Reservoir Dogs style, disgruntled looking members of The Clash in tow. And what better way to pimp your cartoon band than by undermining them in your own universe, right? Er, or something like that. Either way, good show, Mr. Albarn. Confidence is a preference for the habitual voyeur of what is known as…
