It’s been pretty mellow on Rubbish lately, thanks to the all-consuming finals week that marks the first few weeks and middle of December. All around me I’m observing the calm before the storm, cloaked bundles of University of Utah students walking, instead of scurrying, to class, lofty thoughts of snowboarding and Christmas Break floating in the not-too-distant future. It seems like a wonderful place to be, or at least that’s what I imagine.
Instead, I’ve been holed up inside my room, painstakingly trying to draw the last few pieces for my art portfolio due next week. Unfortunately, being an art student doesn’t allow me the luxury of a break this week, as our finals come sooner than everyone elses, and consist of surreal, ridiculous, non-representational projects that make me want to tear my hair out.
Thus, this week I’m taking a break for a little while, and instead of an album review, I present you six songs that have been on heavy rotation ever since I started my art project finals. A set of six (mostly new) songs perfect for the bleary eyed, caffeine-saturated college student that you, or someone you know, will undoubtedly be in the next few weeks. That said, enjoy the calm before the storm, study hard, and keep those lofty thoughts of Christmas Break in the back of your brain for as long as you can.
